MARY ANN SUNDERLAND FEARNLEY

I, Mary Ann Sunderland Fearnley, was born January 15, 1853 at Stanningly, Yorkshire, England and I am the daughter of Jonas and Martha Langley Sunderland. My parents were not wealthy, and I was not given the privilege of even a common school education, and what little I have learned as been through hard work and observation. At the age of 16 years, I commenced work in a woolen factory, weaving dress-goods of all kinds. My father had a sandy complexion and was a tailor. He was considered an expert at this trade.

On My 17, 1880, I was married to Thomas Fearnley at Calverly Church, England. My husband was of wealthy parents, and his family were of the higher class and of a very religious temperament, and like my husband were strictly honest. I am the mother of 12 children, four sons and eight daughters, two sons and five daughters being still alive.

In the year 1903 I, together with my husband and family, joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and became members of the Leeds England (Branch). On September 1st 1904 we arrived in Salt Lake City, having emigrated from England for the Gospel's sake. In the year 1914 three of my daughters were married in the Salt Lake Temple, and at the time of this writing I have two sons and two daughters home with me, my husband on December 4th 1915 having passed to the great beyond.

Baptized January 5, 1901 at Bradford, England by J. R. Smith. Confirmed into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints January 5, 1901 by Elder Cottrell.

Positions held: Called as Teacher in the Bountiful 1st Ward Relief Society, October 1914
