Historical Sketch of George Cartwright Hart
I was born on a small farm in Bountiful Utah.
My great grandparents were all born and raised in England.
My great grandfather and mother Stephen Hart and Elizabeth Olister were converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of L.D.S., and in the year of 1856 started to emergrate [sic] to Utah. Both were frozen to death before they arrived in Utah.
My grandparents Samuel Hart and Sarah Ann Leah emergrated [sic] to Utah in the year of 1864, crossing the plains with oxens.
My father Stephen James Hart, being 12 years of age, and arrived in Salt Lake Valley late in the fall, making their home there. And engaged in a small grocer store there and later moved to Bountiful and kept a store there, and lived there at the time of their death.
On the 25 of September, 1876, my father Stephen James Hart married Sarah Orgill, making their home in Salt Lake Co., and later moved to Bountiful, where they now reside, six sons and five daughters having been born to them.
I was born in Bountiful on the 6 day of September 1881. I was babtysed [sic] in the Church of Jesus Christ of L.D.S. when 9 years old. I got my education at Bountiful District schools.
On the 9th day of January 1907, I married Amy Belle Porter, making our home in Bountiful Utah, were one son and three daughters were born to us. [Note: additional children were born after this was written]
I am now working for the benefit of my family and engaged in the duties of a husband and father.
Baptized August 24, 1890 at Bountiful, Utah by Ianthus H. Barlow into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints; confirmed August 24, 1890 by Irvin F. Fisher.
Ordained as a Deacon January 24, 1894 at the Bountiful Ward, Davis Stake by H. J. W. Burningham.
