Minimum Requirements For Dispatchers
- Must be 18 years of age
- One year clerical experience
- Must type 40 wpm
- Must have a High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Must pass a background check
Application Process
The Bountiful Police Department posts employment advertisements in the local newspapers and on this website when civilian positions become available. The deadline for the submission of these applications is included in the employment advertisement. Applicants meeting the minimum requirements will be sent a letter inviting them to participate in the first phase of the testing process. Individuals who pass the first phase will be invited to move on to the second phase, and so on. Interested persons may pick up and submit applications at the Bountiful Police Department, which is located at 805 S. Main in Bountiful.
Testing Process
- CritiCall Test - measures the knowledge and skills of individuals with no dispatch or call-taking experience. The test has ten modules, including: short-term memory, reaction time, and situational judgment.
- Oral Interview - with the dispatch board. The board discuss some of the departments policies, the dispatch schedules, overtime, and benefits. We ask questions of the applicants and they are given the opportunity to ask questions fo the board.
- Perfex Test - allows applicant to demonstrate multi-tasking skills, map recognition, and speaking skills.
- Background Investigation
- Drug Screen - completed upon acceptance of a conditional offer of employment
- Psychological Evaluation - completed upon acceptance of a conditional offer of employment.
