Neighborhood Watch
The City of Bountiful is a member of the Utah Citizen Corp, affiliated with the National Citizen Corp Council.  The Utah Citizen Corp promotes citizen involvement within their community.  Two of the programs Bountiful City is involved with are the CERT (Community Emergency Response Teams) and neighborhood Watch.  CERT training is done through our local fire department.  Neighborhood Watch is part of a national organization to “Bring together local officials, law enforcement, and citizens to protect our communities.”  The Neighborhood Watch program encourages citizens to be educated and trained in crime prevention.  Neighborhood Watch is set up in your own neighborhood.  A person is delegated with setting up meetings, training, and organizing the neighborhood.  Citizens assist law enforcement by becoming the eyes and ears of their neighborhood.  An officer will train citizens in what to look for, such as suspicious activity or criminal activity, in their neighborhood and how to report it to the police.  Citizen involvement is critical to keeping our community safe.  Citizens are also encouraged to be prepared for emergencies; such as being CERT trained, having 72 hour kits, first aid training, and a family emergency.  Citizens can volunteer to support emergency responders as needed.
